Question you are discussing. If students are in charge of their own learning how will we be sure they learn what is important.

 Solutions:
Students are not spending time on task.
 Give the students specific keywords or checklist to complete task.
Dominant student completing without peer input.
 Assign each student a task and they are only responsible for completing his/her specific task.
Task should fit individual student's capabilities.
Weaker student feels intimidated.
 Flexible grouping should help. Teacher should monitor carefully.
Disagreement among group members.
 Students must come to some agreement. Table it. Write both answers.
